THE PAST - You were
As with the present tense there are easy ways to find the other forms of verbs without having to learn them by heart

Let's take the male form of "I was":
- I was -
To get the 'you (informal) form' we just drop the 'm' and add 'ś':
- You were in Warsaw (talking to a male) - Byłeś w Warszawie
The same goes for the female 'you (informal) form'
- You were in Warsaw (talking to a female) - Byłaś w Warszawie

In English we say "I was in the supermarket today/yesterday". In Polish, when we are talking about yesterday or today we say "I was today/yesterday in the supermarket".
The order is [VERB] - [TIME] - [ACTIVITY].
- Were you in town yesterday? - Czy byłaś wczoraj w mieście
Again, take your time to think out the following phrases and they'll be much faster to learn. The audio is when spoken to a female
- Were you in town yesterday? (female) -
- You were in Kraków today (female) -
- Why were you in Kraków today? (female) -
- Did you have your laptop yesterday (female) -
- Were you looking for work yesterday (female) -

Take your time to think out the 'you (informal)' forms of the following. The audio is the version when talking to a male.
Thinking these out, rather than trying to remember them, makes learning faster.
- You lived in Warsaw (male) -
- You remembered (male) -
- You had a car (male) -
- You were looking for my house (male) -
- You liked it (male) -
- You thought that you had a problem (male) -
- You had to go to town (male) -

Now try asking these questions to a female:
- Did you live in Warsaw? (female) -
- Did you remember (female) -
- Did you have a car? (female) -
- Were you in the supermarket? (female) -
- Were you looking for my house? (female) -
- Did you think that you had a problem? (female) -
- Did you like it? (female) -
- Did you have to go to town? (female) -
