I want / You want
Now we know how to change adjective and noun endings after a verb being used positively (the Accusative case) it's an ideal time to learn a new verb and put it into practice.
'To want' is one of the most commonly used verbs in the Polish language
- I want wine - Chcę wino
- You want wine - Chcesz wino
As it is a verb (being used positively) it takes us into the Accusative case.
- Feminine noun: Do you want good water? - Czy chcesz dobrą wodę?
- Masculine (animate) noun: Do you want a good doctor? - Czy chcesz dobrego lekarza?
- Masculine (non-animate) noun: Do you want a good house? - Czy chcesz dobry dom?
- Neuter noun: Do you want good wine? - Czy chcesz dobre wino?
The Polish for 'new' is 'nowy'. As with the other adjectives we have seen it's ending will change depending on the gender of the noun and the case.
- I want a new computer - Chcę nowy komputer
- I want a new bathroom - Chcę nową łazienkę
