Tom's coffee
The Genetive case is also used as a way of saying 'of'. In Polish, literally, we say 'the coffee of Tom' similar to the way, in old English, we say, 'The House of Tudor'

- Tomasz's coffee - Kawa Tomasza
By saying 'Tomasz' in the genetive form we are signalling that 'of' is being used. That means we don't actually have to write 'of'.
So how would you say
- Ewa's beer -
- Frank's wine -
- Beata's water -
- Tomasz's problem -
- Dorota's computer -
- Magda's bank -

Heads Up!
As always remember when we have a word (or a name) that has a hard ending like 'ka' we'll use the 'i' ending instead.
- To jest Agnieszka's problem - To jest problem Agnieszki
So how would you say
- It's Agnieszka's cat -
- It's Agnieszka's house -
- It's Angelika's water -
- Is it Angelika's question? -

There are other places that we also use 'of' in both languages:
- It's a matter of time - to jest kwestia czasu
Now although 'kwestia' sounds an awful lot like 'question' ... it isn't! We already know 'pytanie' is 'question'.
However in this context 'kwestia' can mean 'question'.
So how would you say
- It's a matter/question of taste -
- It's a matter/question of color -

We also use 'of' when describing how much of something:
- A liter of water - litr wody
- A bottle of water - butelka wody
Again, by using the genetive form of 'woda' we can achieve the 'of' without saying or writing it. So how would you say:.
- A liter of wine -
- A bottle of wine -
- A liter of beer -
- A bottle of beer -
