Chcę - I want
Wanting is slightly odd. We imagine that if we want something it must be missing or lacking so we should use Genetive Case endings.
However the modern Polish language sees 'wanting' as less extreme than 'needing' (potrzebuję) so this verb does not move us into the Genetive unless we are using it negatively (I don't want).
Because if we don't want something it is our want that is missing or lacking.
- Nominative - Gdzie jest woda?
- Accusative - Chcę wodę
- Genetive - Nie chcę wody
