Yes, we are back in the Genetive case because something is lacking or missing - in this case what we know!

In the Genetive case the word for 'this' changes to tego for masculine and neuter nouns

• Znam ten dom - I know of this house
• Nie znam tego dom - I don't know of this house

• Znam to miasto - I know of this town
• Nie znam tego miasto - I don't know of this town

This is yet another 'ego' connection with the Genetive Case like the others we have seen before (e.g. Dlaczego, Czego szukasz?)

It's worth pointing out that although in English we would say 'I know of this house' we normally say that when we are not in or close to the house.

In Polish we say 'Znam ten dom' with the same usage that we have for 'I know this house'.
