Mam ochotę na

We came across 'mam' in an earlier class:

'mam ochotę na' means literally 'I have a craving/desire for'.

Although the words craving and desire sound quite strong in English it is far more casual in Polish unless said with passion.

When said casually the meaning is simply 'I fancy'

Listen out for that 'ch' scraping sound in ochotę.

It catches many English language learners out because we desperately want to pronounce it like the 'ch' in 'chair'.

Practice saying 'ochotę' a few times out loud and remember it as the 'ch' in 'loch'.

Wherever you see 'ch' in Polish it is always pronounced with this scraping sound.
