lp101 cat A final note on Nominative, Accusative and Genetive

We now know how to handle 3 cases. There are 7 cases altogether but these core three will allow you to start communicating correctly in 80% of everyday Polish

We'll cover the other 4 cases later in the course.

Sports - Animate or Inanimate?

Although we saw in this course that sports are inanimate ('Lubię tenis') do not be surprised to hear them treated as animate in spoken Polish ('lubię tenisa').

This is grammatically incorrect but it is just how some people speak.

Some say 'lubię tenis' (officially correct) and some say 'lubię tenisa' - listen out for both

Rules and Exceptions

As in all languages there are grammar rules and then there are exceptions to those rules

A currency, for example, is not something you would think of as animate but:

Listen out for them!
