This is similar to the way we say 'actor' or 'actress' in English depending on the gender of the person.
It's all about ending the job title with 'ka'
There is some disagreement in Polish society about whether or not this is a good thing as gender should not be important in a job role.
However many people, including the younger generation, still use the different forms.
In practice expect to hear a female manager (for example) refer to herself as both:
