Dlaczego

Earlier we saw that there were two different ways to say 'what'

• Co robisz - What are you doing? (Accusative)
• Czego szukasz - What are you looking for (Genetive)

We saw the word for 'what' changes depending on the case.

And now here we see 'czego' again in:

• Dlaczego - Why?

This is because 'dlaczego is actually made up of two words:

• dla - for
• czego - what (Genetive)

'forwhat' is the same as 'why'.

'What' is Genetive because, as we will see, 'dla' is another one of those small joining words which bounces us into the Genetive case
