The Polish language is structured on 'cases'. It is impossible to learn the language without understanding them.

The three most common are:

Nominative Case

The case of explaining what/where something is / is not

e.g. To jest laptop - It is a laptop

e.g. To nie jest dobry hotel - It is not a good hotel

Accusative Case

The case of using a verb positively

e.g. Mam brata - I have a brother

e.g. LubiÄ™ jazz - I like jazz

Genetive Case

The case of using a verb negatively

e.g. Nie mam brata - I do not have a brother

e.g. Nie mam kota - I do not have a cat
